Ardiess leading Benin hip hop internationally
from Afrolution.com
Ardiess Posse is one of the major Benin rap groups giving life to podiums since 1996 with a terrible commitment. Their style is inspired from the Americans with a positive and conscious content in various languages that directly touches the African population. Ardiess brightens up the clubs and fills the dance-floors. Thanks to his boldness (which means Hardiesse in French), Ardiess sets the HIP-HOP KANKPE (HHK) in 2002, the 1st and only festival entirely devoted to hip-hop in Benin. HHK hosts international artists, training workshops to professionalize the hip-hop sector and offers a large following to the underground rappers. Following HHK’s 7th edition in February 08, Ardiess is invited to Gabon by Claudy Siar for AFRICA STAR, and releases his 5th record “le 5eme majeur” (5th major). This album pushes the group internationally with “bad” featurings with other stars: Singuila (France), Yeleen (Burkina-Faso) and Jah Lion (France). “Danse-Danse” is one of the latest hits that attracted the jury of the Kora Awards to nominate Ardiess in the “Best group - West Africa” category for the 2008 edition which will take place on 6 December 08 at Cross River State in Nigeria.
