Notorious Hip-Hop group Cypress Hill from the United States has invited local rapper Weez from Pretoria, South-Africa, to record a collaboration song with them in their studios in Long Beach, California.
B-Real, front man for Cypress Hill, invited new talent on Myspace.com to submit fresh material for their collaboration album, The Harvest. Weez submitted his song verbal massacre, voted number one for two consecutive weeks on the local radio station 5fm’s hi5@5 charts, which caught the attention of the group and a week later Weez got the call.
Weez is one of only twenty artists who will feature on B-Reals’s latest album, The Harvest. Weez will depart to L.A. on 27 May to record with Cypress Hill and will stay with the group members. Weez will also stand a chance to be offered a record deal with B-Real’s label Latin Thug Records. Weez is the first hip-hop artist from South-Africa to record a song with a big internationally known group, and will definitely put South-African music in a different perspective.
Weez said “I’m glad that they noticed me, now somebody can show the boys over there that we can also make great music over here in South-Africa”
Weez will release his debut album “Get Ready” when he returns from The Sates, featuring the song recorded with Cypress Hill
Weez’s first music video “Permanent Damage” will also be released before he departs to the U.S. next week.
