It’s the beautiful encounter of three exceptional rapper, beat boxer and spoken word Malian artists - MIC MO, CHANANA, AMKOULELL and French hip hop band NOUVEL R. Two visions, two different vibes, two cultures… for the same objective, to share the stage and offer an original live set.
Kanou means Love or Will, depending on the use. It seems there is no love without will…
During a residency in Mali and in France, they produced some beautiful tracks - 4 of which are already available on www.myspace.com/hiphopkanou.
Intelligent, funny, very musical, check how hip hop can amazingly harmonize cultures!
They are now on stage all around France from March 13th to April 15th.

CHANANA
This MC, pillar of the Hip Hop Kanou project, is from the 1st generation of Malian hip hop leading Diata Sya one of the most popular Malian bands. He is working on his first solo album. Chanana is also a film director and VJ as KOURTRAJME AFRIKA.

AMKOULLEL
Confirmed artist featured on Afrolution since we came online… we’re big fans ! The peul child has obviously learnt a lot from his descendant the great writer Amadou Amhpaté Bâ. Engaged in multiple causes, he has been on the Malian scene for years. With the track FARAFINA from his album Waati Sera, he wan the award of best Malian rapper in 2007 at the Malian international music festival. He played on many international stages supporting artists such as Alpha Blondy, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Khaled, Koffi Olomide etc.

MIC MO
Ce jeune artiste est incontestablement l’une des révélation à venir d’Afrique de l’Ouest. Chanteur reggae, rappeur, slameur issu de l’underground Malien depuis une dizaine d’année, il multiplie les collaborations, scènes et les sessions en studio. Passionné par la scène dance-hall ou one drop, il a su donner à sa langue, le bambara, des saveursjamaïcaines. NOUVEL R
Since the beginning, NOUVEL R - four MC’s Geni-K, Sseca, Binzen and Koni, bass player Nico Paï Paï, human beat boxer Shen Roc and Dj Dox - wanted to open a sometimes strict hip hop frame to their human and artistic ambitions. Their first album is not called « Hybrid » just to sound nice. Jazz and blues next to a gypsy guitar, clarinet or sitar, with heavy beats and massive bass close to electro-dub.
The seven men of NOUVEL R a clearly getting a top place between La Rumeur and Svinkels.
