Born in Singapore, and currently based in Toronto, female emcee is a unique entity in her own right.

As the first female rapper to be nominated for “Best Rap Video” in the MuchMusic Video Awards (in 2003), Masia is no stranger to being an anomaly in the industry. Born in Singapore and growing up in Vancouver Masia counted Jay Z, The Roots and Public Enemy as influences, while her peers were listening Taiwanese Pop Music.

Getting her first break at “I Still Love H.E.R.”, a Toronto hip-hop event that featured Oakland’s own Mystic, Masia One has since gone on to release 3 full-length albums- Mississauga, Return of the B-girl and the latest double release, Palau.

Masia One will be Touring the US and Canada over the next two months, and welcomes collaborations, performances and appearances from all interested parties. Here are the tour’s tentative dates:

San Diego December 21- January 5
Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver January 5- 28
Malaysia, Singapore and Cambodia January 28- mid February
