I was lucky enough to see Shakonti perform at the Trinity International Hip Hop Festival in 2008 with several other Cape Verdian hip hop artists. (FYI, Cape Verde is an island nation off the northwest coast of Africa.) Shokanti is a great performer and he also works as an arts and youth activist both in the USA and Cape Verde. His debut album was released earlier this year entitiled “Shokanti”. This is the first video from the album.
